Natural Dyes

Traditional dyes have been replaced by mineral ones in most parts of Nepal. However, the Tamangs of Kakani still retain knowledge of traditional dyes. Presently, five women make natural dyes, dye fabrics and threads. They learnt from BSC how to best to collect such plants, extract dyes from them and fix the colour without using chemicals. Now they are the only ones able to do this in Nepal!
