BSC Workshop


The Federation of Business and Professional Women, Nepal (FBPWN) and the International NGO, the Italian Association for Women in Development (AIDOS) held a workshop on 29th March 2012 at Dwarika’s Hotel on “Sharing Experience on Women’s Enterprise Development” with the objective of developing new ideas and methodological approaches to women’s entrepreneurship development and gender inclusion in the trading/business sectors.

People from I/NGOs, development agencies, governmental bodies, academics and private sector, who have been working in economic empowerment of women through enterprise development, participated in the workshop. The participants shared their experience on findings and constraints of the women enterprise development. 

The workshop was started with the opening speech Ms. Enora Marenne, Political Officer  of European Union. In the workshop, Ms Daniela Colombo president of AIDOS presented “AIDOS experience in establishing Virtual Business Incubators in the Middle East and Africa”.

Ms Sabita Dhakhwa Shakya, HR Development Specialist from MEDEP/UNDP presented on “Micro Enterprise Development Programme (MEDEP) Experience in Nepal: Methodology Application, Results and Lesson Learned”
Ms Nita Neupane, Program Officer of ILO/Nepal presented on Women’s entrepreneurship development and job créations for economic empowerment.  

Ms. Geeta Shrestha, Project Director of FBPWN/BSC presented on methodology, constraint and results of A Business Service Centre (BSC) for  Women’s Micro and Small Enterprises in Nepal.
After the presentation plenary discussion was carried out and various valuable ideas were exchanged on Women enterprise development.

After the discussion the workshop ended with the closing speech by Ms Ambica Shrestha, president of FBPWN. She thanked all the participants and motivated to work together for women enterprise development.
